From vision to mission: How “Beyond D2C” became a passion project
Kristina Kolle – Head of Business Development & Localization
In Customer & Sales Management, I currently lead three teams focusing on Beyond D2C (business beyond direct-to-consumer), Localization Management, and the governance of the portfolio process. I joined bonprix in August 2022 from OTTO – also part of the Otto Group – for a transformation and standardization program whose international dimension immediately excited me.
I started in this program as a Workstream Lead with a focus on functional requirements in Customer Care Management and later helped shape the bonprix Project Portfolio Process as a sub-project lead – my personal “signature project” from that time. Today, my “baby” is the expansion of the bonprix non-core business under the umbrella of “Beyond D2C”, currently compromised of marketplace and B2B business, which I initiated and continue to drive forward.
Change needs a strong foundation
What I particularly value about my work at bonprix is the freedom and trust I’m given to tackle change with real impact. That also makes the job challenging, because change requires persuasion and perseverance. That suits me well: I quickly develop a passion for topics and have a strong instinct for entrepreneurial opportunities. This combination helps me inspire people around new target visions and actively involve them so we can drive change together.
For me, two key success factors for this collaboration are the support of the management board and transparent, open communication. That’s why I address potential hurdles and dependencies openly and deliberately rely on feedback formats so that all colleagues can contribute their perspectives.
Making a difference through initiative
We are currently working cross-functionally within “Beyond D2C” to create the technical, logistical, and commercial foundations needed to contribute to a significant share of revenue in the near future through additional sales channels. I’m especially proud that I succeeded in bringing this third-party business out of the shadows and establishing it as an important, complementary sales pillar – today one of bonprix’s central growth initiatives.
For me, this is also a great example of how much impact personal initiative can have at bonprix. If you are passionate about a topic, you should have the courage to share your ideas and champion them. Don’t wait – just do it! I’m happy about everyone who gets involved and helps shape things. That’s how teams grow closer together and create the foundation for something new. After all, there is no blueprint for what we are currently building. Across my three teams, I feel a strong motivation and a real drive to make a difference – and that’s what matters most: work should be fun, too.
I love thinking big, identifying opportunities for bonprix, and refining visions in sparring with colleagues—and turn them into a clear mission.
